Position SummaryThe *Accounts Receivable Assistant/Cashier* is responsible for assisting the AR Manager with student account management, such as preparing invoices for account billings, collecting outstanding balances, applying fees, billing, reconciling, and resolving discrepancies. Cashiering duties include collecting/receipting tuition/fees and other general cash receipts; making bank deposits from various revenue sources for the campus, and entering requisitions to generate purchase orders. Salary Schedule: Appropriate placement on Salary Schedule E3 04 ($39,759 – $57, 251) based on experience. Essential Duties and Responsibilities* Primary functions are to assist the AR Manager with student account management and cashiering. * Assist with processing and posting reimbursements and daily balancing accounts. * Assist with billing, balancing, and reconciling student accounts. * Assist with year-end processing, loading scholarships, reversing payments, applying fees, and resolving discrepancies. * Collecting/receiving tuition/fees and other general cash. * Make bank deposits from various revenue sources for the campus and enter requisitions to generate purchase orders. * Receive cash, checks, and credit card payments and issue a receipt. * Prepare, reconcile, and make daily deposits with the cash receipts report. * Maintain files for cash receipt documentation as described in the Business Office Procedures Manual for reconciliation and audit purposes. * Maintain documentation for the petty cash fund, cash disbursements, and petty cash reimbursement requests. * Maintain a record of worthless checks and submit worthless checks for collection. * Coordinate with AR Manager to reverse student payment of insufficient funds, add NSF fee to student account, and bill student for outstanding balance. * Assist the AR Manager with third-party and student receivables refund requests. * Maintain vendor file. * Coordinate central supply ordering for the college. * Enter requisitions to generate purchase orders for appropriate signatures. * Assist in the registration process. * Assist with the fiscal year-end closing and external annual audit. * Serve on various college committees as assigned. * Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications* Associate’s Degree in accounting, business administration or related field *or *5 years of cashier experience in a college system may substitute; Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred. * Experience with a computer-automated accounting system. * Ability to multitask and operate in a fast-paced environment and work a flexible schedule * Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite * Excellent written and oral communication skills * Experience with the Ellucian Banner accounting system is preferred *OTHER QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB REQUIREMENTS:* * Excellent written and oral communication skills * Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel * Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment and ability to multitask * Experience providing excellent customer service * Comprehensive knowledge of institutional policies and procedures * Ability to work independently on complex tasks and prepare accurate reports * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with others in a pleasant and effective manner * Ability to maintain confidentiality of office information * Ability to represent the college professionally at all times * Ability to follow through and complete assignments on time * Detail-oriented Application Procedures/Additional InformationApplicants may apply at www.lawsonstate.edu.
