Pay Information $1,913 per week About The Position Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: MedSurg/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 2 years Med/Tele RN experience preferred, first-time travelers will be considered License: Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - General Med/Tele skillset - Stroke experience - Cardiac rhythm interpretation - Trach care - PIV starts - Chest tube management - NGT placement - Drain/tube management (e.g., Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management) - PCA pumps medication management to include cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, IV fluids Description: Seeking a Registered Nurse with a specialty in MedSurg/Tele for a 12-hour night shift. The unit focuses on decompressing the emergency department and other specialty areas within the hospital. Common patient diagnoses include COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, CHF exacerbation, falls with injuries, motor vehicle collision injuries, pulmonary embolism, DVT, UTI, pneumothorax, gastrointestinal bleeds, and CVA. Patient ratios vary by unit, with a typical ratio of 1:5-6, and may increase to 1:7-8 depending on acuity. A Certified Nursing Assistant will provide support by completing vital signs, blood sugars, hygiene care, and assisting with patient needs. A unit secretary will assist with administrative tasks, and a charge nurse will be available to provide support across the units. Phlebotomy services will be available 24/7 for peripheral blood draws, and resource nurses will be present long-term within the department. Telemetry monitoring will be conducted by the nursing team, with primary nurses responsible for telemetry interpretation. Technology and equipment include an electronic medical record system, IV pumps, and medication dispensing systems. Traveling nurses may need to float within the region and schedule, with weekend rotations and holiday expectations outlined upon hiring.
