Job Description Job Description About the Role: As a Hostess/Host in Cottonwood, COTTO, you will be the first point of contact for guests, playing a crucial role in creating a welcoming and positive dining experience. Your primary objective is to manage guest seating efficiently while maintaining a friendly and professional demeanor. You will coordinate with the service and kitchen teams to ensure smooth operations and timely seating arrangements. Additionally, you will handle reservations, manage waitlists, and address guest inquiries or concerns promptly and courteously. Ultimately, your role is vital in setting the tone for the overall customer experience and supporting the restaurant’s reputation for excellent service. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in a customer service or hospitality role preferred but not required. Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Basic computer skills for managing reservations and seating charts. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working as a hostess/host in a restaurant or similar environment. Familiarity with reservation management software such as OpenTable or similar platforms. Multilingual abilities to assist a diverse customer base. Conflict resolution skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Knowledge of local dining trends and customer preferences. Responsibilities: Greet guests warmly upon arrival and provide accurate wait time estimates. Manage reservations and walk-in guest seating to optimize table turnover and guest satisfaction. Maintain an organized and clean host station and dining area. Communicate effectively with servers and kitchen staff to coordinate seating and special requests. Address guest questions, concerns, or special needs with professionalism and empathy. Assist with managing phone calls and reservation systems. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the host area. Skills: The required communication and interpersonal skills are essential for warmly greeting guests and effectively managing their seating preferences, ensuring a positive first impression. Organizational skills are used daily to maintain an efficient flow of guests and manage reservations accurately, which helps reduce wait times and improve customer satisfaction. Basic computer proficiency enables the use of reservation and seating software to streamline operations and keep accurate records. Preferred skills such as multilingual abilities enhance communication with a diverse clientele, broadening the restaurant’s appeal. Conflict resolution and calmness under pressure are critical for handling any guest concerns or unexpected situations professionally, maintaining a smooth and pleasant dining environment.
