Job Description
Senior Blue Box Analyst Apex Systems is a global IT services provider, and our staffing practice has an opening for a Senior Blue Box Analyst with experience overseeing audit compliance, performing all associated financial obligations (filings, billing, account reconciliations, journal entries, and installment payments), and serving as the primary point of contact for vendor inquiries regarding Blue Box reporting, to place at our client, an industry leading technology company. Client: A Fortune 100 Retail Company Terms: 3-month contract. Location: In Office - Mississauga Project: Senior Blue Box Analyst. This role oversees audit compliance, performs all associated financial obligations (filings, billing, account reconciliations, journal entries, and installment payments), and serves as the primary point of contact for vendor inquiries regarding Blue Box reporting, collaborating across various teams to provide necessary support. Core Responsibilities: Compliance & Legislative Research • Interpret and research complex environmental legislation and program guidelines to accurately determine Blue Box reporting obligations and identify any changes impacting the company's liability (e.g., residency rules). • Perform post-audit reviews of Blue Box calculations to ensure compliance, correct liability remittance, and the maximum recovery of costs from vendors. • Investigate and analyze program audits, including reviewing assessment summaries, identifying dispute opportunities, and providing supporting documentation for negotiation of audit proposals. Data Management & Vendor Relations • Manage the Master Data files for all Blue Box applicable packaging, ensuring accuracy based on material ID, weights, sales data, and unit volumes. • Assess suppliers and brands to accurately determine packaging component identification, material classification, and jurisdictional assignment. • Collaborate with vendors to gather and maintain accurate packaging details required for levy application and to prevent double reporting by verifying against the Stewardship's registered vendor list. Financial & Reporting • Prepare and review all mandatory program reports (quarterly remittances and annual reports), including any necessary amendments, ensuring timely and accurate filing. • Execute the vendor chargeback program by preparing domestic vendor billing (twice per year) and a final true-up once official rates are released by the Stewardship boards. • Support the Controllership team by preparing account reconciliations and journal entries to accrue store accruals and addressing month-end variance queries. Process Optimization & Audit Support • Provide full support for various provincial program audit processes related to Stewardship Audits. • Identify and assess process gaps and execution errors to ensure the completeness and accuracy of all reported products, materials, and quantities. • Collaborate with ISD on the "Reportable and Billable" platform for continuous improvements and enhancements to maximize the accuracy of reporting and enhance billing capabilities. Key Qualifications: 4–6 years of Accounting Analysis experience Proven ability to multitask and manage multiple project deadlines Retail background is an asset but not mandatory Strong written and oral communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, extremely detail-oriented and motivated Good analytical skills with strong attention to detail Self-starter and able to work independently Strong experience utilizing MS Excel, with the ability to utilize functions, look-ups, etc. Interview Process: Interviews will take place this month in one round with two directors.
