Job Description

This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced professional to join the People, Culture and Capability team. The area is responsible for learning and development, performance management and human resource programs such as wellbeing, diversity and inclusion, and reward and recognition. This team contributes to achieving the workforce plan objectives of developing, motivating and retaining employees. As the principal consultant, you are responsible for preparing policies, procedures and guidelines for consultation, approval and implementation in response to changes to legislation, certified agreements and directives. Your work will help to enhance Legal Aid Queensland's legislative compliance, particularly in the areas of employment legislation and workforce management. Key Details This position is Temporary Full time from date of appointment till 30 June 2026 with the possibility of extension. The successful candidate will play an integral role in the following: Prepare policies, procedures, guidelines and forms for People, Culture and Capability. Also ensure that documents are reviewed every 3 years or in response to changes to legislation, certified agreements and directives. Conduct research to understand the government approach to People, Culture and Capability matters and consider broader data and information in order to develop or update documents. Review and prepare feedback on proposed changes to legislation and directives and consider impacts of new and updated legislation. Manage consultation and feedback on draft documents including liaison with relevant stakeholders. Lead projects related to policy and procedure implementation as well as any associated process improvements. Prepare briefing notes, reports and other documents related to People, Culture and Capability issues and initiatives. Provide generalist advice and information to LAQ employees about policies and procedures and other enquiries. Attend meetings and committees to discuss policy and procedures. Also develop and provide training and information on new and updated policies and procedures. About You You have human resource experience, ideally in the public service environment and can analyse and apply legislation, industrial instruments, delegations, policy and procedures. You can work independently, prioritise, plan ahead and monitor task progress to meet deadlines. You communicate in a clear, concise and articulate manner and can prepare policies, procedures and briefing notes.
