Studio Lexi (@studio.lexi) is an Adelaide based, contemporary fashion brand founded in 2013. We sell worldwide through a number of retail stockists and also direct to customer through our website. The Role: We are seeking an experienced Fashion Designer to lead our creative team for a 12 month maternity leave cover. The Designer plays a key role in developing seasonal collections that align with the brand's creative vision and commercial strategy. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this position supports the business in all aspects of the design process—from research and range planning to tech packs, fittings, and photoshoots. The role requires a blend of creativity, technical skills, market awareness, and attention to detail, with a strong ability to manage deadlines and collaborate cross-functionally. This role is a 12 month maternity cover beginning in November/December 2025. Key Responsibilities: Lead range planning and liaise with Australian and US sales agents, ensuring each collection meets brand and commercial objectives. Conduct trend and market research to identify new design opportunities. Research and source fabrics, trims and hardware, keeping ahead of global and local trends. Assist in designing and sketching seasonal collections, including digital CADs. At times support the garment technicians to prepare accurate and detailed tech packs, ensuring all information is supplier ready. Support the team in developing mock-ups and toiles, while actively improving draping. Approve lab dips, fabrics and trims, ensuring every piece meets the Studio Lexi standard. Coordinate photoshoots for each collection and assist with lookbook development. Lead the sampling and fitting process to ensure high-quality, well-executed garments. Handover garments and fit notes to the Garment Technician clearly and accurately. Mentor and support junior designers, sharing your knowledge and encouraging creativity within the team. Skills & Attributes Strong sketching, CAD, and Adobe Creative Suite skills. Excellent eye for fit, silhouette, print and colour. Strong understanding of garment construction, fabrications, and embellishment. High level of organization and attention to detail. Commercial awareness and ability to design for different markets. Confident communicator and collaborator. Proactive problem solver with the ability to manage multiple deadlines. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or a related field. 4 years' experience in a design role within a fashion business, ideally across contemporary or commercial womenswear. Strong knowledge of fabrics and textiles. Experience in end-to-end design development including tech packs, fitting, and offshore supplier communication.
