Senior Quality Engineer

Senior Quality Engineer Location: Rochester Contract: Permanent, Full-time We are supporting a leading manufacturer who is looking for a driven Senior Quality Engineer to join their team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a mix of hands-on inspection work, problem-solving, and continuous improvement, and who thrives in a fast-paced production environment. The Role You will support product and process quality across the business, ensuring standards are maintained and issues are resolved efficiently. Expect a varied position combining shop-floor support, data analysis, audits, and structured investigation work. Key Responsibilities Carry out inspections using a range of measuring equipment Operate and program CMM equipment as part of wider inspection duties Support metallurgical testing and routine equipment calibration Investigate customer concerns, returns, and internal quality issues using structured problem-solving tools (e.g. 8D, 5 Whys) Analyse quality and SPC data to support decision-making and improvements Interpret engineering drawings & Bills of Materials Support internal and external audits in line with ISO 9001 & ISO 14001 What We're Looking For Essential Minimum 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing quality engineering role Experience with inspection equipment (CMM capability required as part of the role) Understanding of SPC, quality tools & data analysis Knowledge of ISO standards and audit processes Ability to work independently and as part of a quality-focused team Strong written communication & organisational skills Desired Lean Six Sigma knowledge/certification Exposure to FMEA, Control Plans & CAPA ISO 9001 Internal/Lead Auditor training Qualifications Engineering qualification (C&G / BTEC Level 3 or equivalent) New Appointments Group, Expertly Matching Employers and Jobseekers since 1975.
