Education Assistant - Special Needs Branch: Aveley North Primary School Division: Independent Public School - North Metropolitan Education Region Salary: Level 2/3, $34.87 - $39.37 per hour (EA (Gov) GA 2025) Work Type: Fixed Term - Full Time, Fixed Term - Part Time, Permanent - Full Time, Permanent - Part Time FTE: 0.1-1.0 Location: Aveley Closing Date: 2025-10-24 4:30 PM We are seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistants - Special Needs (EASN) for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period. Aveley North Primary School (PS) is an inclusive school which follows the One School Model including Mainstream Education support and students with Special Needs within the one setting. A dedicated learning community for students with Special Needs is also a feature of the School. Find out more about our school by visiting aveleynorthps.wa.edu.au or Schools Online The Role Suitable applicants will, under teacher direction, assist the teacher in the delivery of planned education programs, including the operation of computers and digital technologies; implement individual or small group programs and be able to provide valuable feedback to support student learning. As EASN, suitable applicants will support the teacher with the care and supervision of students in both in and out-of-class activities and on school excursions. Suitable applicants will work across classrooms, so flexibility is highly desired. The desired applicants will ideally be able to provide support programs relevant to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Intellectual Disability (ID). Part of the EASN may include but not limited to: Preparation and maintenance of the learning environment by maintaining equipment, materials, and resources, Assisting the teacher with clean and safe storage of items after classes and activities. Provide support to teachers with the care and supervision of students in out-of-class activities and on school excursions. Suitable applicants will ideally be highly motivated, energetic and strive to promote excellence. Applicants that show excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills are highly desired. In addition, applicants who display highly collaborative while actively promoting a supportive and inclusive learning environment would be viewed favourably. Demonstrated good interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as part of a team in the evaluation of educational programs, including special education and therapy programs where these have been implemented. Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery and development of effective education programs to students and subsequent feedback to teaching professionals or psychologists. Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs. Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents. Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well-being of students.
