Employment Type: Temporary Part Time until June 2027 Position Classification: Multicultural/ Refugee Social Worker Level 3 Remuneration: $56.68 - $58.52 per hour super Hours Per Week: 24 Requisition ID: REQ614353 Location: Armidale Hospital Applications Close: Sunday 26th October 2025 Where you'll be working The successful candidate will join the Social Work Department at Armidale Hospital, a key facility within the Hunter New England Local Health District. While part of the broader Social Work team, this role will have a primary focus on supporting the Multicultural and Refugee Health Unit, delivering essential services to refugee and multicultural communities across both inpatient and outpatient settings. What You'll Be Doing This Level 3 Social Work position delivers services across both community and inpatient settings at Armidale Hospital, with a particular emphasis on supporting the local refugee community. The role is integral to providing person-centred, trauma-informed care that holistically addresses the health and social needs of patients and their families. The position is well-supported through regular internal and external training opportunities. Supervision is a key component, including daily team check-ins and monthly meetings with the manager. The Multicultural Health team also offers ongoing professional development, as well as both formal and informal support, fostering a strong sense of inclusion and connection. This is a part-time position (three days per week), offering a meaningful opportunity to support individuals and families as they settle into their new environment and work toward improved health and wellbeing. About You We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate social worker who is committed to delivering inclusive, patient-centred care. The ideal candidate will excel in building respectful, trusting relationships with patients, families, and colleagues across both multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary teams. A strong interest in multicultural health is essential, as is a willingness to develop and apply effective communication skills—particularly when working with interpreter services—to ensure culturally safe and responsive care. Requirements Bachelor in Social Work or equivalent with eligibility for membership with Australian Association of Social Work (AASW) Ability to participate in a weekend roster once every 8 weeks when trained.
