About Uniting Wontama: Having the freedom to make choices helps our residents feel at home. And that’s what Uniting Wontama is all about. There are 7 separate households, each with 18–26 residents. Our Uniting team of Homemakers and care staff in each household ensure that the community is thriving and doing things that are meaningful and enjoyable. Our on-site café provides relaxed space for residents, staff and members of the community to connect and enjoy spending time together. Household Living – our innovative approach to care – empowers residents to live their day, their way, just as they would in any family home. Role Overview: Our Café and Wellness Officer enhance the physical and social well-being of our residents by providing opportunities for connection and community building. The café is one of the first connection points for residents, visitors and staff coming into Wontama where they can purchase coffee, cakes and a variety of light food options to have in the café, households, outside or take-away. The café staff also provide support across food safety, community activities, household supplies and assisting household staff when required with dining support. Key Responsibilities: Provide a café experience for residents and visitors in a friendly relaxed environment Prepare and serve a variety of drinks and simple food options for residents, staff and visitors Assist the reception team to create a friendly and helpful welcome Monitor and assist with food safety requirements across all areas Identify and seek out opportunities to connect clients with social and wellness activities Build rapport with residents and families that will encourage recreational and social interests and make their dignity and independence a top priority Support residents with health and wellness activities, to enable participation in the Wontama community and beyond Qualifications & Experience: Ideally, we’re looking for previous experience in café or food services and an understanding of food safety Exceptional communication and customer service skills and a gift for working collaboratively with your team Great organisation and time management skills, and confidence using various technologies including documentation systems, email and mobile phones. You’ll need to be resilient and resourceful and be able to live our values of compassion, respect, imagination, and boldness every day. Benefits for you!
