Grounds Maintenance Officer: We are seeking individuals to join our pool of talent staff who will play an important role in supporting Barwon Coast maintain, clean and protect our coastal reserves and caravan parks. - multiple positions available. About Barwon Coast Barwon Coast Committee of Management is responsible for managing coastal Crown land in and around Ocean Grove, Barwon Heads and Breamlea. The coastal Crown land reserves comprise of important habitat for many flora and fauna species, and includes coastal areas characterised by sandy beaches, dune systems, cliffs, shore platforms, and an estuary. Our team construct and maintain a large range of public infrastructure and facilities, including walking tracks, toilets, BBQs, playgrounds, car parks, seats, fences, signs, lights etc. Our purpose is to care for Country respectfully, preserving the coast for people to connect, understand, and protect whilst enjoying the unique natural environment. The Role You will be part of a casual pool who will support our Coastal Operations Team. Your tasks could include: Performing routine and preventative maintenance; prioritising emergency repairs. Perform grounds keeping duties such as: gardening, planting, pruning, mulching weeding; mow lawns either by hand or using a riding lawnmower; trim and edge around walks, flower beds, and walls; landscape by planting flowers, grass, shrubs, and bushes; apply pesticide to rid grounds of pests such as mosquitos, wasps, ticks, and others and apply fertiliser to grounds to enhance growth. Operating and maintaining heavy plant and machinery, ensuring safe and legal usage. Addressing customer requests promptly and escalating urgent issues. About you To be successful in this role you will have: “Hands on” practical maintenance /gardening skills. Ability to operate small hand tools and/or horticultural tools. Ability to identify customer needs and expectations, decide the appropriate action and respond accordingly. Possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal with people with professionalism, courtesy, tact and understanding. Ability to work in a team, displaying respect for all members and working cooperatively towards planned outcomes. Qualifications and expertise Trade Certificate and or experience working in general facility maintenance or horticulture/landscaping. Driving Licence (essential - preferably manual), Light Truck Licence (desirable). Demonstrated experience in liaising with members of the public, being well-presented and friendly and having a strong customer service focus including the ability to manage difficult situations positively.
