Job Description
Operations Manager Ayrshire Full-Time, Permanent to £35,000 Benefits Pertemps are delighted to be working in partnership with a highly respected and expanding organisation in the freight, logistics and e-commerce sector to appoint an experienced and motivated Operations Manager . This is a fantastic opportunity to join a fast-moving business at an exciting time of growth. The role plays a key part in ensuring the efficient and compliant handling of e-commerce freight, maintaining operational excellence across warehouse functions, and supporting a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork. The Role As Operations Manager, you will oversee all warehouse activity within your shift — ensuring that goods are processed, stored, and dispatched safely and efficiently in line with customer requirements and operational targets. You’ll lead and inspire a team of warehouse operatives and team leaders, driving a strong service-led culture while maintaining compliance with company procedures, health and safety standards, and regulatory frameworks. This role is ideal for a confident leader who thrives under pressure, can manage changing priorities, and enjoys developing people to perform at their best in a time-critical environment. Key Responsibilities Supervise and coordinate all warehouse operations, ensuring high standards of accuracy, efficiency, and safety. Manage a team of warehouse staff and team leaders, providing coaching, guidance, and performance feedback. Liaise closely with final-mile providers and customers to ensure smooth communication, issue resolution, and service delivery. Oversee compliance with all company, departmental, and statutory procedures, including HMRC, CAA, and others. Ensure efficient use of labour, equipment, and transport resources to deliver cost-effective operations while minimising overtime. Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance workflow, productivity, and staff engagement. Ensure all documentation, processes, and system updates are completed accurately and on time. Promote a strong safety culture by monitoring working practices, carrying out risk assessments, and ensuring the warehouse and welfare areas are kept to a high standard. Collaborate with managers across departments — including Cargo Services, Aviation, and Motor Transport — to maintain operational excellence. Handle shift planning, rosters, and staff management including holidays, timesheets, and training compliance. What We’re Looking For Significant experience in warehouse, logistics, freight, or air cargo operations, ideally within a high-volume environment. Proven leadership experience managing teams in a 24/7 operation. Strong organisational skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities. Excellent communication and interpersonal ability — confident liaising with internal teams, suppliers, and customers. Solid understanding of health and safety and regulatory compliance. A proactive, hands-on approach — someone who leads by example and fosters collaboration across teams. Strong problem-solving capability, attention to detail, and drive for continuous improvement. What’s on Offer Opportunity to join a reputable and forward-thinking employer with ambitious growth plans. Supportive, collaborative working environment with real focus on people development. Excellent long-term prospects for progression within the organisation. If you’re an operational leader with a passion for excellence, teamwork, and driving performance, this is a superb opportunity to make an impact and advance your career in a thriving, modern logistics environment.
