Job Description
osition Summary The Materials Manager is responsible for leading all activities related to material planning, procurement, inventory control, warehousing, and logistics within the wire harness manufacturing plant. This role ensures an uninterrupted flow of materials to support production schedules, optimizes inventory levels, and drives cost efficiency while maintaining compliance with corporate standards and customer requirements. Key Responsibilities Planning & Inventory Control Develop and implement material planning strategies to ensure on-time delivery of components and raw materials. Manage inventory accuracy and control processes, ensuring optimal stock levels aligned with production and customer demand. Monitor and analyze material consumption, lead times, and forecasts to prevent shortages or overstock situations. Lead cycle counts and physical inventory processes, ensuring data accuracy in ERP systems. Procurement & Supplier Management Oversee the purchasing process for all direct and indirect materials. Negotiate contracts, prices, and delivery terms with suppliers to achieve cost and service targets. Evaluate supplier performance and collaborate with the Quality and Engineering teams on supplier development and issue resolution. Logistics & Warehousing Ensure efficient material flow from suppliers to production lines and finished goods to customers. Manage warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, material handling, and shipping. Coordinate logistics and transportation activities to minimize cost and improve delivery performance. Leadership & Continuous Improvement Lead, coach, and develop the materials and logistics team to ensure high performance and engagement. Implement lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives focused on material flow, waste reduction, and efficiency. Support new product launches (NPI) by ensuring timely material readiness. Compliance & Systems Maintain compliance with company policies, customer requirements, and local regulations. Utilize ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, D365) to plan, control, and analyze materials data. Prepare and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as inventory turns, supplier OTD, and logistics cost. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or related field. Master’s degree or APICS/CPIM certification is a plus. Experience: 7 years of experience in materials, logistics, or supply chain management within the automotive or wire harness industry . Strong knowledge of MRP/ERP systems and lean manufacturing principles. Proven experience leading cross-functional teams and implementing process improvements. Skills & Competencies: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent negotiation and communication skills. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. Fluent in English; additional languages are an asset.
