Contractual CFO - Chief Financial Officer Hourly Pay Rate range: $80-$125/hr (W2) Location: On site in Newark CA Length: 6-12 months likely converted to FTE Number of hours per week: Roughly 20-30 to start but at times it could be more, at times less. The expectation is that this position will ramp up to more hours per week and likely to become 40 hours a week. There is a good chance for contract-to-hire as well. Looking for a CFO in the Biotech space providing services to generate revenue. This company is very collaborative so it is very important that this person work well with the executive team as well as the rest of the teams he'll be working with. Must take ownership of the Finance/Accounting team, evaluating it for optimization and leading the team giving strategic and operational guidance as well as mentorship. The Role The Contractual Chief Financial Officer leads and ensures the finance function supports the Company's fiscal requirements while facilitating the Company’s growth. They must work collaboratively with the entire Executive Team to set the strategic direction for the Company’s growth and success. The CFO partners closely with the senior leadership team members and with key teams/members of Commercial, R&D, Operations, IT, Legal, and People functions. This role is responsible for accounting, financial planning & analysis (FP&A) and statutory reporting and compliance. The CFO is also expected to engage with bankers and potential investors. This position is a strategic partner to the executive and management teams across our client to focus on the Company’s fiscal management and the Company’s continued growth, organically and be prepared to work on M&A. The successful candidate will have a strong business mindset, paired with vision for both the company and the finance organization specifically. In addition, the CFO will have the flexibility to lead in establishing strategy as well as “rolling up their sleeves” as needed to ensure that required work is done. Responsibilities Oversee the general accounting team, ensuring that the monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements are completed on a timely basis and in accordance with US GAAP, including a review of monthly journal entries, accruals and account reconciliations. Manage the current finance team, assess the team members, identify gaps and make recommendations to the CEO to address them. Lead Financial Planning & Analysis activities: provide multi-year strategic financial planning, annual budget setting, actual versus budget analysis and reporting, and outlook, KPIs reporting, scenario planning, and financial reporting for the board of directors. Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures. Develop and maintain internal controls for key processes. Lead key company initiatives from a finance perspective with a focus on pricing and cost accounting including process improvements and operational changes as needed. Provide interface with external auditors, bankers, third-party tax professionals (income and sales/use). Provide business support for contract negotiations and product investment decisions. Recommend and drive the implementation of improvements for Acumatica (accounting system) and LIMS with a focus on invoicing and inventory management.
