Data Center Engineering Operations Engineer, Data center engineering operation AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure continual access to our customers. We work on challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain, and we’re looking for talented people who want to help. You’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion. Amazon is expanding the Data Center management team in India. This position serves as the primary operational resource to support ADSIPL within its owned and operated Data Centers in India. It provides a central point of ownership and accountability for the hands-on management of the Mechanical, Electrical (M&E) and related Data Center operations within ADSIPL’s India portfolio. The role covers the operation and maintenance of critical infrastructure supporting IT operations, incident management, change management, and cost/contract management. It also includes relationship management with landlords, critical facility vendors, Data Center Construction, Data Center Operations, Technical Program Managers, Security, and Logistics teams in India. The position will require 24x7 on-call, scheduled weekend work, and rotational shifts. Location in India may be discussed and could include multiple locations. Key job responsibilities Following are the primary responsibilities (but not limited to) of Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) Engineer: Operations and Maintenance Ownership of all Data Center changes/events/incidents/problems from start to finish, including post-mortems, root cause analysis, and follow-up actions. Ensure maintenance and repairs of site-critical facility infrastructure or a Data Center are planned and executed for business interests. Asset and Inventory management responsibilities. Develop and maintain method statements, standard operating procedures, emergency response procedures, preventive maintenance programs, and all technical documentation. Promote standardization and best practices; include technical writing skills and automation. Develop deep knowledge of design intent, operational alternatives, and contingency plans for all Data Center systems. Manage engineering aspects of Data Centers related to financial and cost control, code and regulatory compliance, personnel management, and staff training. Health & Safety, local statutory requirements, environmental and energy management considerations. Develop and deliver regular engineering reports; ensure adherence to contracted deliverables including SLAs and KPIs. Communicate operating philosophies, technical information, objectives, and expectations to Amazon personnel and vendor facilities teams. Provide hands-on facility support as needed (e.g., installation, decommissioning, replacement of equipment, internal audits). Oversee technical compliance auditing and timely closure of corrective actions; perform annual operational reviews for Amazon standards and regulatory requirements. Manage development and delivery of Energy/Environmental Management Programs and stay informed on Data Center industry innovations. Incident and Emergency Response Review incident reports, summarize trends, and provide updates and recommendations to management. Manage information flow during incidents with regular management updates. Coordinate with vendors to resolve incidents during emergencies; may require on-site dispatch to investigate and resolve issues. Basic Qualifications 1 years of data center or mission-critical facilities experience (example: hospital, military facility, public safety facility, etc.). Bachelor’s degree or equivalent High school diploma or equivalent At least one year of experience in a technical field; a technical degree (EE, Mech E, Industrial E) is preferred. Understanding of mission-critical systems (data centers, hospitals, power plants, etc.). Self-starter and independent worker with strong problem-solving ability; vendor negotiation and management experience for data center projects; ability to document procedures and issue tracking; good judgment under pressure; ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment; willingness to engage other teams to resolve issues; interest in keeping current with industry standards and innovations. Preferred Qualifications 1 years of electrical or mechanical experience; Data Center operations and on-call support. Strong understanding of electrical systems in critical data center operations (utility feeds, transformers, switchgear, UPS, batteries, generators, etc.). Strong understanding of mechanical systems in data centers (CRAC/CRAHs/AHUs, chillers, cooling towers, piping, pumps, valves, ducts, etc.), plus fire detection and suppression, building monitoring, and automatic control systems. Experience with design, procurement, testing and commissioning; relevant certifications are a plus (PMP, Prince2, ITIL, BICSI, ASHRAE, CDCP/S/E).
