Job Description

Alexander Steele has partnered with a leading manufacturing business that has an exciting opportunity for a Finance Controller to oversee all financial operations of the plant, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness. On offer * Annual salary will be circa £70 000 to £80 000 * Performance Bonus * Car Allowance/Company Car * Onsite (Mon to Fri) * Work sponsorship available Key Responsibilities * Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports. * Monitor variances between actual results, budgets, and forecasts, explaining key drivers. * Maintain accurate standard costing systems and ensure proper updates for materials, labour, and overhead. * Analyse cost variances (purchase price, manufacturing efficiency, scrap, yield, etc.) and identify root causes. * Oversee inventory valuation, reconciliation, and cycle counts to maintain accurate stock records. * Maintain strong internal controls over financial transactions, reporting, and inventory management. * Supervise and develop finance staff within the plant. Candidate Requirements * A degree in Finance, Accounting or equivalent * ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent professional certification * At least 5 years’ Finance or Accounting experience, ideally with exposure in a manufacturing environment. * Proven experience in cost accounting, standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory control. * Experience working with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) and strong Excel/BI tool proficiency (Power BI, Hyperion, etc.). * Cross-functional collaboration experience partnering with operations, supply chain, and engineering teams
