Job Description
Principal / Senior Civil Engineer Location: Central London Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 (DOE) Start Date: ASAP Join a well-established multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy based in the heart of Central London, seeking a Principal or Senior Civil Engineer with 5 years’ experience in drainage, highways, and road design. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a growing civils team (currently 8 people), within a supportive London office of 19, and a wider business of around 60 professionals. You’ll work across a diverse project portfolio – including industrial, commercial, residential, retail, healthcare, and leisure developments – while playing a key role in project delivery and team leadership. Why Join? * Fast-track route to senior management within a growing and ambitious business * Excellent work-life balance with hybrid working options * Support for Chartership (ICE or IStructE), including structured training and mentoring * A friendly, social team culture, with regular events and a collaborative environment * A diverse and busy project pipeline, offering real variety and responsibility * Clear career progression path with a focus on internal promotion Salary & Benefits * 25 days’ holiday (plus additional days based on length of service) * Option to buy/sell annual leave * Annual bonus scheme (based on personal and company performance) * Company pension scheme with access to independent pension advice * Employee Assistance Programme, offering legal, financial, and personal support * ICE/IStructE Chartership support and structured CPD * Regular social events and team-building activities What You’ll Be Doing * Leading and mentoring a team of engineers from apprentice to experienced levels * Client liaison for project delivery and developing new opportunities * Designing drainage, roads, earthworks, and infrastructure across a variety of sectors * Producing drawings from concept through to construction stage * Preparing Flood Risk Assessments, Drainage Strategies, Service Reports, and SuDS designs * Working on technical approvals for Section 104, 38, 278 and other relevant consents * Carrying out site audits, feasibility studies, and swept path assessments What You’ll Need * A degree in Civil Engineering (or similar) * At least 5 years’ experience in UK civil engineering consultancy work * Strong report writing skills – e.g. Flood Risk Assessments, Drainage Statements * Experience with AutoCAD and drainage design software such as Micro Drainage * Familiarity with Auto Track for swept path analysis * Working knowledge of ground modelling software for road and earthworks design If you're a motivated and experienced engineer looking to step up into a leadership role within a dynamic and forward-thinking consultancy, we’d love to hear from you.
