Technical Consultant Plymouth (with travel to client sites and training venues) £35,000 – £43,000 (DOE) About the Company Aztrum Recruitment is delighted to partner with a leading IT solutions provider delivering end-to-end technology services to small and medium-sized businesses. Renowned for their expert technical support, innovative IT solutions, and exceptional customer service, this company provides comprehensive support across multiple technologies — from network security and cloud infrastructure to email systems and multi-site IT environments. Their highly skilled technical team works closely with clients, offering everything from daily IT management to complex project delivery and presales consultancy. The Role Due to continued growth, our client is looking for an experienced Technical Consultant to join their expanding team. In this role, you’ll provide high-level technical support across varied client environments, ensuring systems remain secure, stable, and high-performing. You’ll take ownership of infrastructure management and development — covering servers, storage, networks, and cloud technologies — while leading projects designed to improve efficiency and performance. You’ll also act as an escalation point for complex technical issues, collaborating closely with customers and partners, and ensuring that all processes, systems, and solutions are fully documented. Key Responsibilities Deliver 3rd line technical support via phone, email, and remote tools. Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot client IT environments using management systems. Administer and optimise network and server infrastructure (Active Directory, Entra, LAN/WAN, hosted Exchange). Design, implement, and document infrastructure improvements and upgrades. Collaborate with third-party vendors to resolve advanced technical issues. Maintain accurate technical documentation and prepare detailed client reports.About You You’re a confident, proactive, and solutions-driven technical professional with a genuine passion for technology. You thrive in a fast-paced MSP environment, balancing multiple projects while delivering exceptional service and maintaining strong client relationships. You’re equally comfortable working independently or as part of a collaborative, close-knit team — and you take pride in providing clear, professional communication at all times. Skills & Experience At least 5 years’ experience providing 3rd line technical support (preferably in an MSP). Strong background in Microsoft environments (Windows Desktop, Server, Office 365, Azure, Entra). Deep understanding of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Exchange, and major cloud platforms (Azure, AWS). Hands-on experience with virtualisation technologies such as Hyper-V or VMware. Strong knowledge of LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi, server hardware, storage, and backup/recovery solutions. Solid understanding of IT security, data protection, and endpoint management. Experience with tools such as Veeam, Datto, and SharePoint is advantageous.Qualifications Minimum of five GCSEs and two A Levels (or equivalent).
