Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Med Surg Discipline: RN Start Date: 11/10/2025 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry Float Pool position with night shifts and a requirement for an active WA or compact RN license. Responsibilities Work in an acute care hospital setting Assigned to the Med/Surg Telemetry Float Pool, floating between Med Surg, PCU, ED boarding, and temporary bed locations as needed Care for adult patients with common diagnoses such as CHF, COPD, cellulitis, ETOH withdrawal, kidney issues, dementia, and CVA Patient ratios are typically 5:1, with a possible maximum of 6:1 during inpatient boarding Unit has 32 beds with telemetry monitoring; nurses are responsible for reading telemetry strips Shifts are 12 hours, from 7:00 pm to 7:30 am, with every other weekend required Epic EMR is used, and Epic training will be provided during orientation Floor-specific orientation is provided Charge nurse and nurse aides are present on each shift Floating is required between several units including Med Surg, PCU, and ED boarding areas Nurses are supported by a cross-shift SWAT IV team, 24/7 respiratory therapy, and 24/7 pharmacy access Care is provided in a highly observed environment with camera monitoring Holiday coverage is required Scrub attire must be professional in color, pattern, and style as no specific color is mandated Nurses may not have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility in the past year First-time travelers will be considered for this position Requirements Active WA or compact RN license must be in hand at time of consideration; pending licenses are not accepted Minimum two years of recent RN experience Current BLS and ACLS certifications are required NIHSS certification is preferred but not required Experience in Med/Surg and telemetry settings required Ability to manage Heparin, Cardizem, insulin drips, and narcotics (excluding DKA protocol) Must be able to review and interpret telemetry strips Must provide two professional references: one supervisor from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 years Copy of driver’s license required for consideration Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-623685.
