Responsibilities Position is in the Emergency Department of a regional hospital serving a very broad geographic area Handles approximately 150-180 patients daily, ranging from neonates to geriatrics with a heavy trauma population Main ED has 33 beds, including dedicated trauma/resuscitation beds and behavioral health rooms Patient population includes trauma, cardiac, stroke, sepsis, DKA, respiratory illness, and pediatric critical care RN-to-patient ratios typically 1:4-5 Uses Epic for charting, with Omnicell and Alaris equipment Variable 12-hour shifts, including potential for every weekend shifts; no on-call required Possible floating to Med/Surg, PCU, or ICU as a task nurse only Travelers must live at least 100 miles from any Monument Health facility Responsibilities include triage, critical care assessment, prioritization, evidence collection for sexual assault cases, and participation in all levels of patient acuity Team support includes 24/7 charge nurse, physician and NP coverage, pharmacy tech, radiology, RT, security, and ED tech support New travelers are not accepted; prior travelers must wait one year after permanent employment before returning Facility provides 8 hours of general orientation plus 4 hours of ED-specific education and at least two unit shifts Manager approval required for time off; no time off requests considered during the first three weeks of August (Sturgis Bike Rally) Navy scrubs are required Free parking is available Requirements Active SD or compact RN license required Graduation from a board-approved nursing program Minimum 2 years recent ED RN experience (excluding travel experience) preferred; candidates with 1.5 years considered with additional non-ED experience by management approval Current BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC, and PALS certifications required Experience with all listed patient populations and situations, including trauma, cardiac, stroke, and behavioral health emergencies Comfort with sexual assault patient care and evidence collection is required Experience with ESI assessments and triage required EPIC charting experience preferred Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-625038.
