Assistant Lodge Manager Exquisite 5* Game Lodge Liwonde Malawi Core Responsibilities: Guest Experience ● Host Guests: Engage with guests to ensure they are comfortable and fully enjoying their stay. Regularly check in during meals and between activities to make sure all their needs are met. ● Exceptional Service: Work closely with the safari, housekeeping, and guest services teams to deliver a personalized, high-quality guest experience. From the first greeting to their departure, ensure guests feel attended to in every way. ● Guest Safety: Educate guests on safety protocols, especially regarding interaction with wildlife. Ensure all guests are informed about safety procedures and are kept well informed regarding animal activity around the lodge. Cultivate a culture of safety and adherence to protocols. ● Custom Experiences: Collaborate with guides and other management to create custom experiences, ensuring guests leave with unique memories, whether it’s a special bush breakfast, sunset boat ride, or a personalized game drive. Staff Leadership & Development ● Team Management: Lead a team of dedicated professionals, ensuring communication flows between departments such as guest services, housekeeping, maintenance, and the safari team. Foster strong professional relationships with other managers to ensure cohesive operations across all teams. ● Training & Development: Implement and oversee staff training programs that encourage professional growth. Lead by example and foster a culture of teamwork and dedication to service excellence. ● Staff Coordination: Ensure that all staff, from guides to housekeeping, work together to create a cohesive and seamless guest experience. “The staff went above and beyond to ensure we had the best experience. Room Inspections & Maintenance ● Wildlife Interaction: Ensure guides and staff consistently remind guests of the importance of respecting wildlife and following guidelines for a safe safari experience. Guest Engagement & Experience ● Hosting Special Experiences: Coordinate and host special guest experiences such as private sundowners, bush dinners, and exclusive game drives. Ensure each activity is personalized and leaves a lasting impression. ● Community Engagement: Promote the lodge’s involvement with local communities, and encourage guests to learn about or contribute to local initiatives like the "Root to Fruit" reforestation project and educational outreach program Skills & Qualifications: ● Proven Leadership: 5 years of experience in lodge management or high-end hospitality, with a focus on creating unforgettable guest experiences. ● Strong Communication: Excellent ability to communicate with guests, staff, and external partners. Must be personable, empathetic, and diplomatic. ● Cultural Sensitivity: Understanding of local customs and traditions to ensure respectful guest experiences. ● Team Management: Experience in leading, training, and inspiring a diverse team to deliver outstanding service. Foster strong professional relationships with other managers at Mvuu Lodge. ● Crisis Management: Ability to calmly handle emergencies and ensure staff and guests are well-informed about safety protocols. ● First Aid Certified: Up-to-date first aid certification is required, with a readiness to handle any medical incidents on-site. Accommodation: Provided at Mvuu Camp while on duty ● Meals: All meals provided while on base ● Medical Cover: ○ Scheme: Medical Aid Society of Malawi (MASM) ○ Coverage: In-country and international (if procedure unavailable locally) ○ Employee Responsibility: Manage claims and liaise directly with MASM representative 5. Leave & Holidays ● Annual Leave: 30 days per year (excluding public holidays) ● Public Holidays: 13 days per year (Malawi national holidays) 6. Other Entitlements & Obligations ● Temporary Employment Permit (TEP): ○ 2-year permit provided by company ○ Employee refunds prorated cost if leaving before 2 years Salary R 25000 NETT after all deductions plus accommodation & meals & company benefits
