American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Labor and Delivery for a travel nursing job in Charlotte, North Carolina. Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Labor and Delivery Discipline: RN Start Date: 11/03/2025 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a fast-paced Labor and Delivery unit requiring high-volume birth experience and NC or compact licensure. Responsibilities Work in a high-volume hospital Labor and Delivery setting Unit averages over 300 births per month, with frequent double labor assignments Typical ratios are 2:1, with 20 births per 24 hours, 30-40 admits daily, and 20 labor rooms Handles obstetrical patients from 16 weeks gestation and high-risk antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care Obstetrical triage unit onsite for screening and routine outpatient procedures Scheduled and unscheduled C-sections and rescue cervical cerclage are performed Uses Epic EMR, PYXIS medication system, and SBAR communication 12-hour night shifts (18:45-07:15), with every other weekend required and no on-call responsibility Floating within hospital and to affiliate maternity units as needed No RTO is allowed after booking except as specified; up to 7 days may be auto-approved if requested at time of offer Must be able to work at least two of the three major holidays Unit orientation is 24 hours Scrubs are provided (blue) First-time travelers are accepted if experienced in similar high-volume environments Travel pairs allowed but must work on separate units Previous employees of the health system must have a 12-month gap before consideration for travel roles Local candidates within 50 miles may be offered a local pay rate Floating as needed to similar high-acuity maternity units is required Requirements Active NC or compact RN license required at start BCLS, AWHONN Intermediate, and NRP certifications required Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience, with preference for 3 years Experience in high-volume settings with over 300 births per month is mandatory Competency in circulating for OR, sterile vaginal exams, and immediate newborn care Epic charting experience required Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-618994.
