Refrigeration Engineer

JOB TITLE: Refrigeration Systems Designer About FIC S.P.A. FIC S.P.A. is an Italian leader in heat-exchange technologies founded in 1951. Our product lines include milk cooling tanks; process and food-grade tanks; water chillers (including falling film, ice accumulation and chilled water solutions); eutectic plates; and other industrial / refrigeration / heat-exchange systems. Role Overview As a Refrigeration Systems Designer, you will be a technical leader in our R&D team. You will contribute to designing, developing, validating, and adapting refrigeration systems across FIC’s product strategies. You will work cross-functionally to anticipate regulatory changes, respond to market trends, and ensure our products are safe, compliant, high-performing, and meet customer expectations. Key Responsibilities Lead design, development, and validation of new refrigeration systems / components for milk cooling tanks, process tanks, water chillers. Oversee validation testing (performance, durability, efficiencies, safety), from prototype through production release. Work with product marketing and sales teams to monitor market trends, competitor benchmarking, and define product specifications accordingly. Customize and adapt existing product platforms to customer requirements while maintaining design quality, cost, and performance. Analyze and track regulatory requirements in global markets for refrigeration and food processing; ensure product designs comply and adapt product versions as regulations evolve. Collaborate with procurement to evaluate, select, and approve components, suppliers and new technologies. Partner with manufacturing and quality teams to improve production efficiency, and quality indices. Qualifications Master’s or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. At least 5 years of experience in product development of HVAC&R systems, industrial refrigeration, or food / process equipment. Strong technical expertise in thermodynamics, refrigeration technologies and heat exchangers. Experience in system modeling, simulation, validation / testing of thermal systems. Excellent communication skills; ability to work cross-functionally with multiple stakeholders. Fluent in English.
