Job Description & Requirements Specialty: CVICU Discipline: RN Start Date: 11/17/2025 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a CVICU float pool position that requires at least two years of critical care experience and current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications. Responsibilities Work in the Cardiovascular ICU float pool within a hospital setting Level II Trauma Center with a Level IV NICU 13-bed CVICU handling post-op CABG, esophagectomy, TAVR, AAA repair, thoracic and vascular surgeries, and post-arrest patients 1:2 nurse-patient ratios are standard; 1:1 for critical device patients No patient assignment for hypothermia treatment, ECMO, balloon pump, fresh open heart, CRRT, or Impella Use of cardiac rhythm interpretation, invasive lines, external pacemakers, and telemetry bedside monitoring Epic EMR system used; prior Cerner experience is acceptable 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend required May float to CCU or other ICU-level units Holiday shifts required during assignment Responsibilities include hourly rounding, bedside reporting, documenting pain before and after medication, and strict medication safety procedures Support structure includes one tech for the CVICU, a flex nurse for breaks, a floating charge nurse, and 24/7 access to hospitalist, RT, and intensivist Candidates must be willing to complete two days of hospital orientation and one shift divided among three units Must adhere to no-phone policy in patient care areas and required to take breaks Scrubs may be any color except black Holiday and time-off requests may only be granted by extending the assignment end date Strong customer service and teamwork skills are heavily emphasized Requirements Active WA or compact RN license required at time of consideration Minimum two years of recent CVICU or ICU experience required Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS Proficiency required in cardiac rhythm interpretation, management of chest tubes, lumbar drains, vent management, A-line, CVP, Swan-Ganz, external pacemakers, and titration of vasoactive cardiac drips Must pass a telemetry competency exam before starting Experience with Epic (or Cerner) EMR required or strongly preferred First-time travelers are accepted Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-624726.
