Job Description Job Description Established DFW Pathology Laboratory looking to hire an experienced Core Laboratory Accessioner/Processor for a Full-Time position Monday-Thursday, 7:00 pm to 12:00 pm. Duties of a Core Laboratory Accessioner/Processor: Accessioning – Responsible for receiving specimens into the Core Laboratory Accessioning Department, opening, and sorting specimens and entering patient demographics and specimen details into the LIS database while following CLIA and CAP guidelines. Specimen sorting, pour off – Oversee and ensure the specimen is placed in the appropriate machine assigned testing rack and ensure labeling of pour off specimens. Ensure that specimens which are not being immediately tested, or shipped, are stored at the proper temperature. Specimen shipping – Ensure all send out specimens are packed at appropriate shipping temperatures, with adequate amount of cold packs/dry ice (when required) and properly packed according to safety standards per specimen type. Ensure the shipping labels are adequately filled out as well as all required shipping labels properly applied to the outside of the shipping container. Update the shipping log accordingly and send shipping alert emails to appropriate vendors. Filing – Oversee the maintaining of the filing system of all clinical requisition forms. Laboratory Maintenance – Oversee and maintain high level of laboratory cleanliness, including wiping down counter tops with bleach solution, cleaning sinks, cleaning laboratory equipment and keeping all laboratory area dust free. Quality Control – Oversee and responsible for identifying and documenting discrepancies in specimen integrity, including specimen labeling, patient identification and proper specimen container. Discrepancies are documented as an Accession Problem, reported, and returned to the clinician if necessary, or documented in the Specimen Accession Problem Log. Client Relations - Maintain client relations via phone communication to confirm specimen discrepancies. Qualification: Phlebotomy experience is a plus.
