Job Description Job Description Mechanical Engineer Our Mechanical Engineers are responsible for the analysis, design, and review of mechanical systems. This includes drawings, specifications, reports, cost estimates, and similar products and services. Mechanical systems generally include HVAC, plumbing, control systems, medical gases, process piping, and fire protection. In addition, the Mechanical Engineer is responsible for maintaining good and responsive client relationships on a firm wide basis. Essential Functions: Prepare mechanical design solutions using a thorough knowledge of industry and constructability practices. Incorporate a detailed understanding of the governing codes and standards affecting the work. Utilize Trane/Trace, Carrier/HAP, Microsoft Office products, CADD, BIM/Revit, and other industry software. Conduct field surveys, energy audits, life cycle cost analyses, cost estimating, and energy modeling. Execute construction phase review services consisting of submittal review, RFI responses, and changes. Competencies : Work well both in teams and independently. Actively and effectively communicate, collaborate, and coordinate with clients, co-workers, and others. Effectively work on multiple assignments simultaneously. Adhere to design and construction budgets and schedules. Commitment to maintaining a high standard of quality in the delivery of our technical solutions, customer service, and ethical standards. Education and Experience : (a) Required - Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Bachelor of Architectural Engineering, or equivalent. Three or more years of experience. (b) Preferred - EIT. Professional Engineer Licensure or commitment to obtain it within twelve months. LEED AP or equivalent. Supervisory Responsibility - Ability to manage staff. Ability to mentor less experienced staff. Work Environment - Most work is performed in an office environment. Regular trips to a variety of locations for meetings and observations are also required. Expected Hours - This is a full-time position based on a 40-hour work week. A 7AM to 9AM start time will be negotiated with your supervisor. Schedule will be coordinated with the normal Monday through Friday, 9AM to 3PM core hours. An unpaid lunch hour beginning at 11:45AM is available. Requires adjusting schedule to suit clients and working overtime as necessary to satisfactorily meet project schedules. Travel - This position requires regular day trips throughout the mid-Atlantic area. It requires an occasional overnight trip and travel by plane. It requires a valid driver's license and appropriate vehicle. Work Authorization/Security Clearance - This position requires the ability to pass a background check and obtain clearance for client and government contracts. Must be approved for working in the United States.
