Job Description
Your role The Electrolyte and Anode Protective Layer Process Scale-Up Engineer position bridges the gap between laboratory breakthroughs and manufacturable products. In this role, you will focus on scaling up advanced electrolytes and protective coatings for lithium-metal anodes from bench chemistry to pilot and production-scale processes. Main functions Process development & Scale-up: Translate lab-scale electrolyte and protective layer formulations into scalable processes suitable for pilot and commercial production. Scale liquid and solid-state electrolyte synthesis methods, ensuring quality, consistency, and throughput. Develop, optimize, and validate processing methods (mixing, coating, deposition, curing, drying, etc.) for protective layers on lithium-metal anodes. Prepare technical documentation, process flow, process specifications, and scale-up protocols. Equipment & Process Design: Work with equipment vendors and internal engineering teams to specify/design, commission, and optimize pilot-scale manufacturing equipment. Run tests on a range of equipment and report data/results accurately. Continuous improvement: Conduct process failure analysis and propose engineering solutions to improve reliability and yield. Implement quality control and in-line characterization methods for scaled-up materials and coatings. Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with Manufacturing and R&D teams to feedback learnings from scale-up into material design. We aim for a swift process, potentially involving two interviews. Requirements Education: Master or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or related discipline. CAD, programming basics. Experience: Prior experience in lithium-metal or solid-state battery technology. Hands-on experience in scale-up of specialty chemicals, polymers, coatings, or advanced battery materials. Strong background in chemical/process engineering and manufacturing techniques relevant to electrolyte production or thin-film deposition/coating. Experience with pilot plant operations, process safety, and statistical process control. Languages: Fluent in English; proficiency in Spanish and other European languages is advantageous.
