American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Parkersburg, West Virginia. Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Med Surg Discipline: RN Start Date: 10/27/2025 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Ortho-Neuro unit with required Epic experience and night shift availability. Responsibilities Work in an acute care hospital setting on a 33-bed Med/Surg Ortho-Neuro unit with all private rooms Primary patient population includes elective orthopedic surgeries (hips, knees, shoulders), fracture care, back and neck neuro-surgeries, and general Med/Surg cases Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:6 Utilize PCA pumps, IV fluids, and experience remote telemetry monitoring (RNs do not read telemetry strips) Epic EMR experience is required for charting 12-hour night shifts with every-other-weekend requirement; weekend nights are typically Friday, Saturday, and Sunday Block scheduling may be permitted as unit needs allow Mandatory floating to any Med/Surg units; if floated to Tele, assignments will match skill set Charge nurse is present 24/7 and takes full patient assignments on night shifts Patient Care Techs provide support for vitals, ADLs, FSBS, and Foley catheter discontinuation; number may vary by staffing Royal blue scrubs are required; only matching scrub jackets may be worn Travelers are first to float and must be willing to work in other Med/Surg units as needed One day of Epic orientation and one precepted floor orientation day provided Potential holiday coverage required based on staff availability No titration of drips is required High flow, BiPap, and CPAP managed per respiratory therapy No local travelers accepted within a 50-mile radius Former employees of this health system must have a 2-year break before returning as a traveler, and cumulative travel assignments may not exceed 1 year total before a 2-year break is required Time off requests should be noted during prescreening Requirements Active WV or compact RN license required Minimum 2 years recent Med/Surg experience with orthopedic patients Current BLS certification (AHA) Epic EMR experience required Demonstrated proficiency with PCA pumps Must provide an unexpired copy of driver’s license for consideration Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-620134.
