SEMH Teaching Assistant

SEMH Teaching Assistant, Wakefield - Full Time (September 2025) Are you an experienced SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) Teaching Assistant (TA) looking for a full-time role? Were working with a primary school in Wakefield who are seeking an experienced SEMH TA to join their team from this academic year starting as soon as possible (September 2025) on a supply basis. This role will focus on supporting children as they reintegrate into school life after the summer break. You will play a crucial part in helping pupils settle back into routines, manage their behaviour, and re-engage positively with learning. Key Responsibilities: Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs. Assist in the development of tailored behaviour support strategies. Provide a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment. Work closely with class teachers and SENCO to track progress and adapt support as required. Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation through consistent support. Requirements: Proven experience supporting behaviour and SEMH needs in a school setting. A calm, resilient and empathetic approach to behaviour management. Strong communication and relationship building skills. Ability to adapt and respond to changing needs throughout the day. Available to work full time, Monday to Friday, from September 2025.
