Mobile Service Engineer

Plant Fitter (Field Service Engineer) Overview An established and growing machinery business is seeking a skilled Mobile Plant Fitter to join their team. Based at their workshop in Broxburn , this role combines site-based work with field service engineering across Scotland (and occasionally further afield in the UK & Ireland). This is a hybrid position offering a mix of workshop servicing and customer site visits, providing both stability and variety in your day-to-day role. Key Responsibilities Carry out inspections, repairs, and servicing of plant and heavy machinery at the Broxburn workshop. Travel to customer sites to diagnose, repair, and maintain equipment in the field. Perform preventative maintenance and planned servicing, both on-site and in the workshop. Fit and commission new machinery and specialist attachments. Diagnose and resolve hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical faults efficiently. Provide technical support, demonstrations, and operator training to customers. Keep accurate records of all service work, repairs, and compliance documentation. Ensure the workshop and service van remain well stocked, organised, and safe. Uphold all company and industry health and safety standards. Skills & Experience Required Proven experience as a plant fitter, service engineer, or technician. Strong knowledge of hydraulics, electrics, and mechanical systems. Full UK driving licence, with flexibility to travel (occasional overnights). Confident in fault-finding and problem-solving under pressure. Excellent communication skills and a strong customer service approach. Self-motivated, organised, and able to balance workshop and field responsibilities. Desirable NVQ or equivalent qualification in Plant Maintenance/Engineering. Welding/fabrication experience. Previous exposure to forestry, construction, or heavy plant machinery.
