Job Title: RN Clinical Periop Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Inpatient Nursing Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 10.5 or 8.5 hours Experience: At least 2 years of OR experience License: Registered Nurse (Single State) or Multi-state Compact Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) Must-Have: - Ability to read, write, and speak English - Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills - Excellent customer service skills - Ability to function in a fast-paced environment - Strong critical thinking skills Description: The RN Clinical Periop Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team. This team consists of licensed and unlicensed caregivers who ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high-quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders. The practice is supported through a professional governance model and evidence-based practice and research. It is expected that all RN Clinical Nurses are licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Professional Nurse Practice Act. They implement the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards set forth by the American Nurses Association. As a member of the patient services team, the individual must uphold the voice of the patient and system policies while supporting service excellence goals. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Performs the Nursing Process, including assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Utilizes evidence-based practice and analytical/critical thinking, ensuring that care is individualized. Coordinates care through effective partnerships, recognizing that caring is central to achieve optimal patient care outcomes. Provides relationship-based patient-centered care consistent with population-specific characteristics. Always partners with the patient and significant others using appropriate methods for setting and purpose. Practices using current clinical practice standards. Coordinates the delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care promoting a professional care delivery model. Demonstrates teamwork and collaboration while practicing in a fiscally responsible manner. Participates and supports performance improvement activities, research, and research utilization to promote safe, quality patient care. Completes all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments and required education. Serves as a preceptor or mentor for other professional nurses and staff. Promotes evidence-based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement in nursing. Upholds all healthcare organizational policies, legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements. Participates in data collection and consults appropriate experts for practice questions. Proactively plans for the care of patients across the care continuum in direct patient care. Supports efficient and effective use of human and material resources. Participates in the development of protocols and procedures in collaboration with care managers and other team members. Contributes to achieving best practice outcomes, such as decreasing readmission rates and adverse events.
