Job Description
U.S. Got People (USGP) is seeking a qualified and experienced Radiation Therapy Medical Physicist to provide full-time services at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth , supporting active-duty service members. This is a rewarding opportunity to contribute to an elite healthcare team within a respected federal medical facility. Position Highlights: $10K Sign On Bonus Full-Time Location: Portsmouth, VA Pay: $137/hr. Health and Welfare Stipend (W2 Employee) Pay: $170/hr. (1099 Employee) Possible Relocation Assistance Qualifications: Education: Master’s or Doctorate degree in Physics, Medical Physics, Physical Science, Engineering , or Applied Mathematics from an accredited institution Must meet the educational requirements established by the American College of Radiation Oncology (ACRO) for professionals supporting accredited CT systems Experience: Minimum of 3 years of recent experience (within the last 5 years) as a Therapeutic Medical Physicist in a hospital setting At least 1 year of experience (within the last 3 years) providing support for Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) and Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy (SBRT) Certification: Board certified (or eligible) by one of the following: American Board of Medical Physics (ABMP) in Radiation Oncology Physics American Board of Radiology (ABR) in Therapeutic Radiological Physics or Radiological Physics Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine (CCPM) Licensure: Must have been listed as an Authorized Medical Physicist on a Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) license within the last 5 years Immunization Requirements (Must be current or able to obtain): Hepatitis B (series and titer) Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis) MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) Varicella (Chickenpox) TB (Tuberculosis) test Seasonal Influenza (flu) vaccine COVID-19 vaccine (if applicable) References: Submit two letters of recommendation (written within the last 3 years) attesting to your clinical skills and professional qualifications Key Responsibilities: Perform and analyze beam data measurements for radiation treatment machines Verify accurate input of beam data into the treatment planning system and support safe, effective treatment delivery Assist in developing treatment planning protocols and delivery methods Ensure the accuracy of treatment plans and documentation for various therapies, including: 3D Conformal Radiotherapy IMRT VMAT SBRT Respiratory-gated treatments SRS Conduct post-maintenance quality assurance for treatment machines in accordance with SOPs and regulatory requirements Train and educate dosimetrists, radiation therapists, nurses, residents, and technical staff Support the development and ongoing refinement of quality assurance programs Ensure compliance with all radiation safety standards and licensing regulations Assist in simulations, image-guided planning, and data management Participate in weekly chart rounds, CQI meetings, and other required team discussions Use data from CT, MRI, PET-CT, and simulations to develop high-quality treatment plans Why Work With USGP?
