Chief Engineer

We are seeking a Chief Engineer to take full responsibility for the engineering and maintenance function of a large-scale, internationally branded hotel in Rome. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in engineering leadership within high-occupancy hotels and be committed to maintaining the highest standards in safety, compliance, and service delivery. Key Responsibilities Oversee the hotel’s building systems: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety, and energy management. Manage all maintenance operations and preventative programs to ensure safety and asset protection. Lead and develop the engineering team, promoting high standards and cross-functional collaboration. Manage budgets, service contracts, capital projects, and utility costs. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and maintain all required certifications. Act as primary leader for emergency response procedures related to engineering. Coordinate construction and refurbishment projects from concept to completion. Candidate Profile Minimum 7 years’ experience in a similar role within large-scale, full-service hotels with extensive room inventory and meeting/event spaces. International exposure and proven leadership within premium or luxury hotel environments. Strong technical expertise in HVAC-R, electrical systems, plumbing, and related infrastructure. Demonstrated success in budget management, energy-saving initiatives, and project execution. Fluent in English and Italian. Critical thinker with a positive, solution-oriented mindset. Ability to work collaboratively across functions and influence diverse teams. Preferred Background Previous experience in properties associated with global hospitality brands. Experience in managing hotel renovations and capital expenditure projects. Committed to team development and fostering a culture of emotional intelligence and excellence.
