The Role: We’re looking for an Estimator to join our Civil Engineering team in our Penarth office. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced professional to play a key role in pricing, tendering, and supporting the successful delivery of projects. Key Responsibilities: Prepare quantities from drawings and specifications Support knowledge capture, innovation, and sector initiatives Prepare abstracts of material and subcontract requirements for pricing Carry out technical and commercial appraisals of material and subcontractor quotations Produce analytical estimates, including assessment of construction plant and temporary works Contribute to submission document preparation and attend site visits during tenders Use estimating software to prepare accurate estimates Evaluate construction methods and propose alternatives with the bid team Prepare forecasts of capital expenditure, income, and cash flow Support day-to-day delivery on small/medium projects and assist with larger programmes Develop client relationships and contribute to business growth Ensure compliance with client governance, company policies, and quality standards Commit to professional development and continuous improvement Key Attributes: Proven ability to deliver results in a client-facing role Strong stakeholder management skills in flexible environments Able to manage demanding and changing deadlines Supportive team player with integrity and professionalism Ability to mentor junior colleagues when required Qualifications / Skills: Experience pricing work under NEC contracts (Fixed, Target Cost, Design & Build, Specification & Drawing, or ECI bids) Degree-qualified (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or a related discipline Chartered or working towards (preferred) Strong technical understanding of Civil Engineering with ability to promote alternative solutions Cumming Group is committed to creating a diverse workplace and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
