Retail Construction Project Manager

Overview Established in 1981 with a single store in the Northwest of England, the JD Group is a leading omni-channel retailer of Sports Fashion, Outdoors and Gyms with over 90,000 colleagues and over 4,500 stores across several retail fascias in over 30 markets around the world. JD Italy counts around 90 stores with over 2,500 employees. Role Overview Managing New Stores, Refurbishment and Acquisition Projects to strict deadlines to aid the European Expansion Programme. The role focuses on new store openings, extensions and re fits primarily in Italy. The role may extend into other regions as required. This role supports our existing European remit to act as a centre of excellence to drive store standards to a market leading level. Responsibilities Report to the Senior Southern Europe Projects Manager and manage the end-to-end project cycle of new stores, re-fits and extensions to the highest standards. Coordinate the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants to deliver projects to plan. Develop, monitor and control the budget for each project in collaboration with the Internal Team of Quantity Surveyors and keep the team updated at all times. Ensure best practice and health and safety is adhered to at all times. Lead and support the wider Project Team delivering progress reports, proposals, requirements, documentation, and presentations where appropriate. Strive for excellence in all JD processes within the Projects team, continually reviewing and developing improvements. Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential risks and devise contingency plans as required. Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors, encouraging accountability for assigned work. Skills / Experience / Knowledge Construction / Retail Fit Out experience with knowledge of the European construction and shop fit industry, Building Control requirements and Italian legislation processes enabling management of retail projects up to €5m. Strong Project Management experience with a leading International Retailer, with a track record in Retail Role Out programmes, especially in Italian and Southern European markets. Ability to manage multiple, simultaneous projects across several group fascias, keeping them on budget and on time; focus on adapting cost management to local markets and value engineering. Excellent communication and influencing skills; ability to communicate with multiple stakeholders and departments in person, orally and with presentations. Numerate with strong attention to detail. Qualifications Degree in Engineering or Architecture. Role focused on the Italian market but geographically mobile to support a expanding store network in Europe. Self-motivated with natural leadership qualities; lead a small projects team by example. Technically competent with knowledge of various software programmes. Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities; react to project adjustments promptly and efficiently. Flexible during times of change; extensive travel and time away from home in-country and abroad as required. Italian native speaker and fluent in English; other European languages advantageous. Based in Milan or Rome; Full European Driving Licence essential; Full European Passport allowing cross-border travel throughout Europe. Application Interested?
