Logistics Controller

Key Responsibilities Financial & Compliance Process, reconcile, and maintain customs documentation with forex payments for SARS audits. Liaise with freight agents on customs tariffs, duties, and resolve customs-related queries. Compile, manage, and reconcile freight company accounts for imports and exports. Create Freight Purchase Orders, Sales Orders, Commercial Invoices, and Packing Lists. Sales & Customer Support Manage shipping notices from foreign suppliers and arrange suitable modes of transport. Track deliveries to customers and validate once stock is received. Build strong relationships with foreign and local logistics service providers. Provide accurate ETA updates, pricing, and availability to internal stakeholders. Process Commercial Invoices and Sales Orders in the Pastel system. Provide timeous feedback and support to internal and external customers. Freight Movement Coordinate cargo movements from overseas suppliers to local warehouses. Manage temporary/permanent imports, exports, and re-imports of parts and rolling stock. Arrange and expedite customs clearances and ensure compliance with SARS requirements. Maintain accurate filing and safekeeping of customs documentation. Negotiate freight rates and manage any deviations. Compile and manage weekly freight cost reports. Transport Management Obtain quotes for various modes of transport and arrange shipments. Monitor and manage transporter reports, addressing issues that may cause financial implications. Track customs clearance processes to minimise demurrage and standing charges. Communicate any deviations to customers and stakeholders promptly. Qualifications & Experience Diploma or equivalent qualification in Logistics and/or Supply Chain Management . Minimum 5 years experience in Logistics, Freight Forwarding, Customs, Procurement, or Supply Chain. Strong knowledge and application of Incoterms . Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word . Experience with Sage (Pastel) . Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills. Analytical and problem-solving ability with excellent attention to detail. Deadline-driven with strong planning and organisational skills. Ability to take accountability and drive the full logistics process from start to finish. Comfortable working under pressure and independently. Willingness to work overtime when required.
