Job Description Job Description Company Overview: A well-established and respected general contracting firm is seeking experienced Superintendents to oversee retail grocery and fuel station projects across the Western U.S. This is a key field leadership role offering long-term career growth with a company known for quality and excellence in construction. Key Responsibilities Supervise and manage subcontractor work on-site. Oversee daily construction operations to ensure efficiency and safety. Review and understand all project plans, specifications, and schedules. Schedule and direct subcontractor activities to maintain productivity and safety. Inspect materials and workmanship for quality and compliance. Coordinate all jurisdictional inspections, including health, fire, building, and special inspections. Maintain and enforce project schedules and ensure deadlines are met. Obtain final inspections, certificates of occupancy, and compliance approvals. Assist the Project Manager in financial tracking and managing GC costs. Handle extra work requests and documentation from owners and subcontractors. Compile project closeout materials including as-builts, warranties, and OEM manuals. Lead weekly on-site safety meetings and enforce jobsite safety policies. Complete daily logs by the end of each business day. Coordinate activities with the owner’s vendors and equipment deliveries. Review and manage all submittals. Lead the punch list process and ensure timely completion. Physical Requirements Travel to job sites across California, Arizona, and New Mexico. Walk active construction sites in all weather conditions. Work swing or night shifts as required by project timelines. Climb ladders, scaffolding, and operate equipment such as forklifts and scissor lifts. Sit, stand, and walk for extended periods. Qualifications & Preferred Skills Minimum 6 years of experience as a Superintendent on retail, grocery, or fuel station construction projects. Strong understanding of construction documents and submittals. Proficiency with computers and construction management software. Experience with wood framing in retail construction (preferred). Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Working knowledge of building systems including architectural and MEP. Self-motivated, organized, and customer service–oriented. Additional training and certifications are a plus.
