Job Description
About Us Mindhive Global is a fast-moving AI company using machine learning and vision to reimagine industrial systems. Our solutions power smarter decision-making and process automation in manufacturing environments globally. We care about people, quality, and impact. We work collaboratively, iterate quickly, and solve hard problems that matter. We’re proud to be a winner of two Hi-Tech Awards, recognised for our innovation and impact in the New Zealand tech industry, Work Environment & Flexibility We support hybrid and remote working, and our team is spread 4 countries. We trust each other to get the job done in ways that suit our lives and maximize our impact. We’re a fast-paced startup - we move quickly, adapt fast, and support each other through the occasional rollercoaster that comes with building something new and meaningful. Our Values At Mindhive, our work is grounded in four core values that shape everything we do: ● Relentless Curiosity - we are driven to innovate and explore new ways to solve difficult problems. ● Authentic Humanity - people are what we care about most; genuinely good humans make the difference. ● Inclusive Connection - we build lasting connections with customers, colleagues, and communities to achieve more together. ● Determination to Deliver - we strive to do what’s right, every day, in everything we do. We are a New Zealand company supporting tanneries to automate their processes (leather grading, inventory management) using a mix of cutting-edge hardware, machine learning, and cloud services. Our biggest customers are in Brazil, and we’re looking for a hands-on, technically minded specialist to join us on the ground. About the Role We’re looking for a fast learning full stack developer who can help us build, extend, and support our automation platform. Your primary focus will be on software development - working across the stack to design, implement, and deliver new features and improvements. You’ll collaborate closely with our New Zealand engineering team, contributing to backend services, frontend apps, integrations, and automation tooling. In addition to development, you’ll act as a local technical contact for our Brazilian customers, providing support remotely. This includes troubleshooting issues, analysing problems, and ensuring smooth operation of our on-premise and cloud-based systems. This is a hybrid role: development first, support second. We don’t expect you to know every part of our stack from day one, but you should be resourceful, eager to learn, and comfortable moving between problem analysis, coding, and hands-on technical support. Because you’ll be working closely with teams in both Brazil and New Zealand, we ask for some flexibility in your schedule to enable effective collaboration across time zones. Responsibilities ● Full stack development: webapps, APIs, data pipelines, automation, and integrations. ● Coordinate with NZ team: for design discussions, code reviews, etc… ● Customer collaboration: communicate with clients about new features, help test and demo them, and support rollouts. ● System integration & support: configure and test ERP integrations (via serial comms), collaborate with customer IT teams, and provide second-line troubleshooting (hardware, network, software) during Brazilian business hours. ● Monitoring & operations: analyse logs, perform remote diagnostics, and maintain infrastructure/configuration in coordination with our NZ team. ● Data & dashboards: support updates to customer dashboards (Kibana) and configuration-as-code. ● On-site presence: occasional travel to customer sites as needed. Tech Stack & Tools You’ll Encounter ● React/electron app running on a display on-premise ● Angular webapp running in AWS ● Python microservices communicating via Redis ● AWS (ECR, ECS, Lambda, CDK) ● Docker ● On-prem Kubernetes clusters (Ubuntu) ● Puppet for configuration management ● ERP integration via Advantech converters devices (eth - serial / serial - usb) ● Datadog for system monitoring ● Kibana for customer dashboards About You Essential: ● A fast learner, able to quickly understand both our software and hardware stacks, investigate issues, and propose/implement solutions. ● A self-starter with a strong problem-solving mindset and the ability to identify improvements or automations that make our systems more reliable. ● An excellent communicator, fluent in both English and Portuguese. Nice to Have (But Not Required): ● Experience supporting hardware/software systems. ● Familiarity with ERP systems and/or integration concepts. ● Familiarity with the leather industry If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you, apply now and join us on the journey!
