The Opportunity We are hiring a Senior Backend Software Engineer to our CODE team, Challenges & Gamification Squad in Brazil ! CODE stands for Consumer Digital Experience, responsible for the experience and services guiding people in their wellbeing journey. Our goal is to make every company a wellness company, from initial awareness to access to exclusive benefits and the wider partner network for end-user experience. CODE teams develop and maintain Wellhub's app, frontend and backend services, Design System, and collaborate with product, UX, and data teams to deliver a strong user experience. The Challenges & Gamfication Squad aims to make users have more fun with Wellhub services, creating new products to engage users and working with health data platforms (like AppleHealth and Google Health) to simplify access to and sharing of health data across the Wellhub ecosystem. Your Impact As a Senior Software Engineer, you are a passionate developer who delivers high-quality work on a timely basis. You will have opportunities to participate in and/or lead architectural decisions, suggest improvements, and collaborate with the product team and other stakeholders in an agile environment. You will be accountable for your decisions and maintain a high level of ownership over the products you deliver. You should be considered a technical reference by your team, taking ownership of critical features, performing pull-request reviews, contributing to architectural decisions, and mentoring less experienced developers. You are data-driven, ask for data to support product decisions, and simplify the scope of your work. You are bold and innovative, eager to learn and share knowledge, and continuously improve your toolset in technical, business continuity, and communication skills to maximize impact. As a Senior Software Engineer, you: Deliver timely, high-quality work, perform insightful pull-request reviews, and build reusable code for future use Be data-driven, participate in and/or lead architectural decisions, share improvement opportunities, bring innovation, and keep design docs up to date Interact with the product team and stakeholders to impact the business Ensure successful deliveries and promote the long-term technical health of our journeys Take ownership of critical features, maintain accountability, and follow up on engineering and product KPIs Maintain a high bar of code quality standards and ensure developers are proud of their work Be a technical reference for your team, spread best practices such as code reviews, pair programming, and TDD; eager to learn and share knowledge Mentor less experienced developers Participate in incident resolution and production troubleshooting Live the mission: inspire and empower others by caring for wellbeing and creating a supportive environment that promotes work-life balance Who You Are We expect you to have the following qualifications: A true team player who works toward both team and individual goals with at least 5 years of experience in web development Experience designing and developing complex modern web applications Experience with at least two programming languages such as Go, Scala, Kotlin, or Java Experience with SQL/NoSQL technologies (PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB, Redis) and understanding performance pitfalls Experience with event-driven architectures and message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ, SNS, etc.) and understanding their use cases and pitfalls Experience implementing prototypes and practices such as MVP, A/B testing, and feature toggles for production rollout Experience applying CS fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, problem-solving, and complex analysis Experience with monitoring, observability, and KPI tracking Experience with microservices and high-volume distributed systems Experience with cloud architectures in AWS Strong communication skills in English and Portuguese Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field or equivalent practical experience Ability to work autonomously and in a team Self-starter with ability to multi-task and adapt to a fast-growing organization Ability to handle multiple priorities and projects Tenacious and goal-oriented The following would be considered a plus: Experience with System Integrations Experience with Atlassian tools (JIRA and Confluence) Experience with our tech stack in general We recognize that applicants come from diverse backgrounds.
