Homeless Prevention Officer Location: West Sussex Hours: 37.5 per week (2 days in office) Contract: Temporary – 3 months Rate: £26–30 per hour We are recruiting on behalf of a local authority in West Sussex for a proactive and compassionate Homeless Prevention Officer . This role offers the opportunity to make a real impact by helping individuals at risk of homelessness secure safe and sustainable housing. Key Responsibilities Provide tailored housing advice and early intervention support to prevent homelessness. Assess housing needs and develop prevention plans under the Homelessness Reduction Act . Respond to Duty to Refer cases and work with housing associations to prevent evictions. Support access to private rented accommodation and carry out affordability assessments. Investigate illegal evictions and liaise with legal teams and enforcement agencies. Build partnerships with external agencies to ensure holistic support for clients. Maintain accurate case records and contribute to service development. ✅ Candidate Profile Strong knowledge of housing legislation and homelessness prevention. Experience supporting vulnerable individuals and working within multi-agency teams. Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage a varied caseload and remain resilient under pressure. Must hold a valid UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle. Enhanced DBS check required.
