Job Summary Assist in the development, execution, and implementation of comprehensive plans in support of the overall strategic direction of the University. This position ensures the successful achievement of objectives, initiatives, activities designed to maximize returns on investments, achieve organizational efficiencies, and increase productivity for the University. This position will analyze operations to evaluate performance of processes or staff in meeting objectives and to determine areas of potential cost reduction, overall improvement, or policy change. Responsibilities *Department Summary* Auxiliary Services supports and enhances the campus experience by providing essential services to the university community. Operating under the Division of Finance and Administration, the department oversees a broad portfolio of units tied to both Auxiliary Services and the Auxiliary Services Real Estate Foundation. These include the Bookstore, Dining Services, Vending, Parking & Transportation, Print Shop, 1Card Services, Housing, Health Services, and related real estate operations. *Typical Allocation of Duties:* *Project Oversight - 20%* Assume major management responsibility for a wide range of projects or initiatives associated with business operations or academic or student services. *Manage Operations - 20%* Manage operations of mission critical systems, programs or functions. *Leadership and Direction - 15%* Provide administrative leadership. Assist in directing the human, financial, and other resources needed to accomplish objectives of the assigned department or unit. *Develop and implement solutions - 15%* Develop and implement new, efficient and effective solutions that maximize the department or unit's resources and other external resources. *Compliance - 10%* Interact with federal, state, and local entities to ensure compliance with appropriate statutes and regulations. *Policy and Procedure - 10%* Establish and administer policies and procedures within departmental unit, system standards and operating procedures. *Forecast - 10%* Forecast needs, requirements, and direction for operational changes. *Supervisor Expectations:* For a candidate to be successful in this position a Business/Accounting or Finance degree is essential. * Assistance with providing strategic leadership, oversight, and direction for all Auxiliary units * Provide leadership and strategic direction for financial planning and budget management, including approving high-level financial decisions, budget allocations, and major transactions for assigned units * Direct and oversee the work of Auxiliary managers, including direct supervision of accounting * Represent Auxiliary Services internally and externally * Serves as the Chief Financial Officer of the Auxiliary Services Real Estate Foundation (FASB) * Manage accounting and budget for Auxiliary Services Real Estate Foundation * Lead annual audit and filing of tax documents with external auditing firm * Convert FASB statements to GASB for the VSU Auxiliary Services Real Estate Foundation annually * Coordinate Board of Trustees meetings, oversee preparation and review of all financial summaries, presenting them to the board, and making recommendations as necessary * Maintain compliance for all bond related matters, including timely submission of MSRB disclosure, lease renewal notices, bond arbitrage, UCC statements, MOUs, facilities assessments, etc. * Review and approve PPV projections and ensure strategic alignment with university priorities * Prepare and manage accounting, procurement and budget transactions and related to the daily operations of the units within Auxiliary Services (GASB) * Lead annual five-year business planning process * Prepare Annual Budget for Auxiliary Services operations * Reconcile various financial accounts using Excel and PeopleSoft * Prepare high level financial analysis and make recommendations to the AVP * Prepare assigned Auxiliary Financial Statements annually * Ensure internal controls are in place and regularly reviewed for both sets of books * Coordinate with external auditors, legal, and compliance as needed. Required Qualifications *Required Experience* Master's degree in a specified field and seven (7) years of related work experience which at least five (5) years must have been in a supervisory role OR an equivalent combination of education and years of experience in the field. Terminal degree and/or professional licensure, certification, and/or designation may be required in some areas. Proposed Salary Commensurate with experience.
