Job Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse (RN) Specialty: Cath Lab Duration: Permanent Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 8 hours, varies Experience: Two years of critical care nursing experience, preferably cardiac. Four years of recent working experience in a full-service cardiac cath lab is preferred. License: Current license as a Registered Nurse Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association required. I.A.B.P. certificate preferred. Assaultive Behavior Management training required within 90 days from date of hire. Description: This position reports to the Manager of the Cardiac Cath Lab and/or designated supervisor. The role involves performing a variety of technical and/or nursing procedures that require independent judgment and initiative. The position emphasizes organizational responsibilities such as treating everyone with dignity and respect. Collaboration with colleagues, community providers, patients, and family members is essential. Customer service improvement while reducing complaints is a priority. Attendance at department meetings and events is expected. Compliance with job requirements, including annual training and licensure, is necessary. The work area should be kept organized and clean. Reporting unsafe situations or safety hazards immediately is critical. Participation in Emergency Preparedness Drills is required. Effective communication with patients, families, and the healthcare team is essential. Following the chain of command to escalate issues appropriately is required. Confidentiality and respect for patient privacy following applicable laws is mandatory. The individual must perform comprehensive patient assessments based on clinical presentation. Shift assessments and documentation per unit standards are expected. Ongoing awareness of assigned patients' status and care needs is necessary. A personalized plan of care must be developed based on assessment findings. Coordination of the care plan with healthcare team members is essential. Patient education must be appropriate to age, learning needs, and readiness to learn. Interventions identified in the plan of care should be implemented effectively. Analysis of collected data and evaluation of patient responses must occur consistently. Effective problem identification and resolution skills are vital for sound decision-making. Proficiency in emergency situations and medication administration consistency are required. Maintaining required certifications and supporting other clinical areas as needed is expected. Ensuring patient safety and positive outcomes through quality care practices is a key responsibility. All age groups from neonate to geriatric require assessment and consideration of physiological needs. Demonstrating knowledge and compliance with applicable standards and guidelines is essential. Strong leadership, organization, communication, and interpersonal skills are necessary for success. Proficiency in electronic health record systems and knowledge of relevant applications are required. The individual must exhibit a commitment to ongoing professional development and education.
