About The Position Job Title: Registered Nurse - ICU Profession: Registered Nurse (RN) Specialty: RN ICU Duration: Permanent Placement Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Hours - 7 PM - 7 AM Experience: One year ICU/Step Down/PCU experience preferred License: Current State RN license required Certifications: Current BLS (CPR) from a recognized organization required. Must-Have: ACLS from a recognized organization required within 90 days from date of hire. Basic Arrhythmia Certificate or 12-Lead EKG Certificate preferred. CCRN preferred. NIH Stroke Scale Certification required within 90 days of hire. Assaultive Behavior Management training required within 90 days from date of hire. Description: This position is a permanent placement need. The Registered Nurse (RN) will report to the Director of Critical Care Services. Responsibilities will include accountability for all aspects of adult and geriatric patient care utilizing the Nursing Process. The RN will adhere to the guidelines of the State Nurse Practice Act. Accountability for maintaining standards of nursing practice and optimal patient outcomes in the ICU is required. The RN will supervise all categories of nursing personnel. The RN is expected to treat everyone with dignity and respect. Collaboration with colleagues, community providers, patients, and family members is encouraged. Identifying ways to improve customer service and reducing patient complaints is essential. Participation in department and hospital committees is expected. Timely compliance with job requirements, including licensure and certification renewals, is necessary. Maintaining a clean and organized work area is crucial. Reporting any unsafe situations or safety hazards immediately is required. Effective communication with patients, families, guests, medical staff, and peers is necessary. The RN will follow the chain of command for escalating issues or concerns. Patient privacy and confidentiality must be respected at all times. The RN will assess patients upon admission, perform shift assessments, and document findings per unit standards. Ongoing awareness of the status of assigned patients is required. The RN will develop individualized plans of care and modify them as needed. Education of patients and families is a key responsibility. Emotional support should be provided to patients and families. Evaluation of patient and family responses to care is necessary for continuous improvement. The RN will exercise critical thinking skills in identifying and resolving patient care issues. Proficiency in managing crisis and emergency situations is essential. Participation in quality improvement activities is expected. Comprehensive care planning should consider the physiological and psychosocial needs of patients. Assisting with discharge planning and follow-up care should be done in coordination with other departments. The RN must maintain required certifications and support other clinical areas as needed. Documentation must reflect all aspects of patient care as per established guidelines. The RN is responsible for medication administration according to established policies. Maintaining a high level of clinical expertise is necessary for promoting change within the department. Participation in unit activities designed for improvement of services is essential. The RN should demonstrate knowledge of protocols related to the critically ill patient.
