Maintenance Manager: Mechanical Farming Operations

Waboomsberg Farming (Pty) Ltd, located just outside Prince Alfred Hamlet (Western Cape), offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced individual to manage the full maintenance function across three production units. This position will primarily be responsible for the maintenance and repair of all vehicles, tractors, implements, and other equipment, as well as all management aspects of the associated workshops. This is a key role that directly impacts the efficiency of production and logistics. The successful candidate has experience leading a team in a technical context and shows strong planning and organisational capability, paired with excellent recordkeeping and administrative skills. Key responsibilities: *Full management of the workshops and maintenance function across three production units *Initiation, implementation and management of preventative maintenance systems, service scheduling and record-keeping *Compilation and management of maintenance budgets per unit *Management of personnel involved in repair and maintenance work *Diagnosing mechanical and electrical problems on vehicles, tractors, implements, and equipment *Performing repair work and fault-finding, including welding where necessary *Inventory management of spare parts and tools *Ensuring compliance with safety standards and maintaining neat workshops *All other tasks related to the position. Essential qualifications, skills, and experience: Qualified as Diesel Mechanic (Trade Test/Red Seal will be advantageous); Minimum 5 years relevant post-qualification experience in a farming/production environment; Exposure to John Deere tractors, boreholes, irrigation pumps preferred; Good communication skills (Afrikaans & English); Computer proficiency (MS Office, especially Excel and Outlook); Valid driver's license (C1 or EC); PDP will be beneficial; Willingness to be on weekend duty and be available outside of normal working hours if required.
