About the Role: The Purchasing role in our durable goods manufacturing facility in Longview, Texas, is critical to ensuring the seamless procurement of materials and services necessary for production. This position is responsible for managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and securing cost-effective purchasing solutions that align with company quality and delivery standards. The successful candidate will play a key role in inventory management by forecasting needs and coordinating timely deliveries to avoid production delays. Additionally, this role involves continuous evaluation of supplier performance and market trends to optimize purchasing strategies. Ultimately, the Purchasing professional will contribute to the overall operational efficiency and profitability of the manufacturing process by maintaining a reliable supply chain. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred. Minimum of 3 years of experience in purchasing or procurement within a manufacturing environment. Proficiency in using procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. Strong negotiation and communication skills. Knowledge of supply chain principles and inventory management. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related discipline. Experience with ERP systems such as MicroSoft D365 or similar platforms. Certification in Purchasing or Supply Chain (e.g., CPSM, CPP). Familiarity with durable goods manufacturing processes and industry standards. Demonstrated ability to analyze market trends and supplier performance data. Responsibilities: Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery, and service criteria. Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with vendors to secure advantageous terms. Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with production planning to forecast material requirements. Process purchase orders and ensure timely delivery of materials to meet production schedules. Maintain accurate purchasing records and prepare reports on procurement activities and supplier performance. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, quality assurance, and finance to align purchasing activities with organizational goals. Continuously assess market conditions and supplier capabilities to recommend improvements in sourcing strategies. Skills: The required skills such as negotiation, supplier evaluation, and inventory management are applied daily to ensure cost-effective and timely procurement of materials. Proficiency in procurement software and Excel enables efficient tracking and reporting of purchasing activities, supporting data-driven decision-making. Strong communication skills facilitate effective collaboration with suppliers and internal teams to resolve issues and align purchasing with production needs. Preferred skills like ERP system experience and supply chain certifications enhance the ability to manage complex procurement processes and optimize sourcing strategies. Analytical skills are used to assess market trends and supplier performance, driving continuous improvement in purchasing operations.
