The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong ability to perform thorough head-to-toe assessments on patients and conduct timely reassessments as required by policy. Key Responsibilities: - Conduct head-to-toe patient assessments and reassessments in accordance with established policies. - Assess and monitor pain levels using appropriate evaluation methods, employing effective pain management techniques and educating patients and families on pain control strategies. - Develop, revise, and evaluate individualized plan of care based on patient responses to treatments, assessing daily for effectiveness. - Deliver age-appropriate care, maintaining a thorough knowledge of development principles across the lifespan. - Administer medications accurately, adhering to the five rights of medication administration to minimize errors. - Create and implement teaching plans based on identified learning needs, engaging family members in educational activities as appropriate, and evaluating the effectiveness of teaching. - Perform technical and manual nursing skills within the scope of licensure and seek guidance for issues outside the realm of expertise. - Treat patients and families with respect and dignity, while identifying and addressing their psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and spiritual needs. - Serve as a liaison among administration, patients, physicians, and other healthcare providers, fostering professional interactions and collaborative treatment planning. - Ensure a safe environment for patients and families to prevent medical errors, and coordinate with relevant departments for an interdisciplinary approach to patient needs. - Maintain clear and appropriate communication with unit leadership, colleagues, and medical staff. - Document patient care in compliance with current standards and policies. - Safely operate and manage medical equipment as necessary, coordinating and supervising patient care effectively. - Exhibit flexibility and organizational skills while functioning in high-stress situations. - Complete mandatory competencies, including bedside blood glucose testing. Qualifications: - Minimum of 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience is required. - Must have postpartum and nursery experience. - A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred. - Active Ohio or compact nursing license required at the time of submission. - Current certifications through AHA, including BLS, ACLS, and NRP, are mandatory at the time of employment. - If COVID-19 vaccinated, a vaccination card must be provided.
