Head of Finance

Head of Finance Location: Hull Industry: Manufacturing Overview: A well-established manufacturing business based in Hull is seeking a commercially focused and technically strong Head of Finance . This is a key leadership role for a driven and qualified finance professional who thrives in a hands-on, fast-paced environment. You'll lead the finance function, deliver accurate management reporting, and contribute to strategic decision-making at board level. Key Responsibilities: Lead the monthly management accounts cycle. Own the budgeting and forecasting processes, providing variance analysis. Conduct detailed financial analysis on profitability, cost control, and margin performance. Prepare and present monthly board packs to the leadership team. Manage cash flow forecasting. Oversee inventory and stock reporting Ensure compliance with internal controls, external regulations, and audit readiness. Partner with other departments (sales, operations, procurement) to support commercial goals. Continuously improve financial systems, processes, and reporting efficiency. Lead and mentor a small finance team. Role Requirements : Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with at least 3 years' post-qualified experience. Proven experience in management accounting, reporting, and team leadership. Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP / FRS 102 and VAT. Confident preparing board-level reports and communicating financial insights to non-finance stakeholders. Proficient with Excel and finance systems. Highly analytical with excellent attention to detail and organisational skills. Background in manufacturing or similar environment Experience managing stock and inventory from a financial perspective. .
