Job Description

We are currently working in partnership with a housing association based in Derbyshire, who are recruiting for a Governance Officer on a temporary six-month contract. This is a part-time role, with the hours being worked across Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. This is predominantly a remote role, however for some meeting an on-site presence will be required. The position is due to start immediately, with the potential for further extensions. The hourly rate of pay is negotiable dependent upon experience. Duties will include (but are not limited to): Providing efficient servicing and high-quality support to the Boards, Committees and working groups in accordance with legal, regulatory and other requirements through effective administration of Board and Committee meetings and any other types of meetings required Working closely with Group Directors and partners to produce Board reports and ensure Board decisions and actions are communicated effectively and followed up Maintaining accurately and on a timely basis the Group’s Registers e.g. statutory records, seal register, Board attendance, and Declarations of Interest Assisting with the production of key documentation required by external bodies/stakeholders, ensuring that deadlines are met Supporting the implementation of sound governance arrangements, including the conduct of business and ensure legal, statutory, Regulatory Framework and best practice obligations are met Providing advice and guidance to Board Directors and partners regarding governance matters, liaising as necessary with legal and other advisers. Ensuring relevant/appropriate information can be accessed by Board Directors regarding sector updates, training and development opportunities to enable them to carry out their duties effectively. Co-ordinating recruitment and induction of new Board Directors & Committee members and appraisals, development and training for Board Directors and Committee Members - providing governance induction and refresher training for partners. Producing and maintaining the Group’s Policy Management Framework, supporting the development and implementation of governance-focussed policies. Maintaining up to date knowledge & understanding of governance best practice, statutory requirements and regulation in the housing sector Supporting administration of data protection compliance across the Group Experience required: Experience required in Higher Education in a Student Casework role Working hours: 22 hours per week Wednesday – Friday, 9am-5pm Please note that you require recent experience to apply for this role.
