This position requires a minimum of 2 years of experience on the cardiac floor and expertise in various critical care skills. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing patients with a range of cardiac conditions and will be integral in providing high-quality care to our patients during night shifts. Responsibilities: - Monitor and assess patients' vital signs and cardiac rhythm. - Administer medications and manage cardiac drips with and without titration. - Conduct sheath removal and care. - Interpret and manage dysrhythmias effectively. - Provide post-myocardial infarction (MI) and pre/post-cardiac catheterization care. - Manage and care for chest tubes, including Emerson and Pleuravac systems. - Utilize non-invasive airway management techniques such as external CPAP/BIPAP and nasal cannula. - Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes. - Float to other units as necessary based on patient census and acuity. Patient Populations and Diagnoses: You will work with adult and geriatric populations presenting with conditions such as: - Atrial Fibrillation - Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) - Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) - Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) - Valvular heart conditions like aortic and mitral stenosis/regurgitation - Cardiomyopathy and Peripheral Vascular Disease (PVD) Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with arterial line management and wound care. - Previous charge nurse experience is a plus. - Familiarity with Epic for documentation is preferred. Certifications Required: - Basic Life Support (BLS) - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Shift Requirements: - 36 hours per week, with a commitment to a minimum of 4 weekend shifts every 4 weeks. - Mandatory participation in Storm and Hurricane team coverage as needed. Work Environment: You will be part of an interdisciplinary team supported by Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, and Social Workers among others.
