Job Description

Job Title: Pharmacy Technician Profession: Pharmacy Technician Specialty: Outpatient Pharmacy Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Hours per Shift: 8 Hours Experience: 2 years required License: CPHT required Certifications: N/A Must-Have: Retail experience, strong communication skills Description: Shift can start any time from 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM, but an 8-hour shift must follow. Every 3rd weekend requires an 8.5-hour shift, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch. Comp day during the week for weekends worked. Responsible for processing prescriptions through the pharmacy system, including adjudication of claims to third-party insurance plans. Assist with filling medication orders timely and accurately. Collect medication histories as part of the medication reconciliation process. Participate in multidisciplinary rounds. Facilitate delivery of medications to patients and their families. Coordinate payments and communicate issues as needed. Excellent communication skills are required for interacting with patients and their families via telephone and in person. Additional responsibilities include participation in service line meetings as required. Manage inventory effectively. Process co-pay cards issued by drug company programs for eligible patients. Complete prior authorizations according to volume on the assigned unit. Candidates must be able to communicate with multiple providers and insurance companies. Focus on all patient needs relative to the discharge medication process is essential. All roles of a normal technician are expected to be proficient, including production, prescription processing, and delivery.
